My life as a photographer kind of snuck up on me. Yes, I have always been that girl – the one who loves to take pictures, but after six years of college for a Bachelor’s in Science and then a Master's and Educational Specialist Degrees in Physical Education, it seemed only logical that I would enter the work force with a whistle in my hand rather than a Canon. I coached and taught high school for nine years before my life completely changed.

When my first son Xander was born, my passion shifted completely and I found myself returning to my love for photography. I didn’t want to forget a thing. I started taking photos because I was scared of forgetting things. Not the big milestones, but the smaller parts of life that quietly disappear over time. The way home feels, the people I loved in ordinary moments, the little habits and routines you don’t realize you’ll miss until later on. Before I knew it, I was using my camera to capture moments in the lives of not only my own little person, but in those of several friends, and other families around me and that was the start of Beverly Riggan Photography.
